Artist's Comments
Lineart is still by *Freakzter . I just LOVE coloring it, it's such a pleasure and easy to use... and it looks freakin' amazing. X3 Anyway, all comments and things regarding anatomy or expression or whatever should go to her, not to me. I didn't draw this. Just slapped some color under it.
So I was working on some of my adoptable pitbulls when I found this guy on my screen. I love black pitties about as much as I love the blue and tri-color varieties. They are just simply stunning dogs, in any color. But black in particular I've always found simply striking, especially when complimented by minimal white markings. But that wasn't enough for me to keep him. About half way through coloring him, a commercial about some documentary explaining the "truth" about the Micheal Vick case came on the tv. At first, I didn't think anything of it. If anything, I think the Micheal Vick case is getting annoying. Michael Vick is not the only person who fights dogs and, now that he has been taken care of, we need to move on to other offenders. But this documentary wasn't about Michael Vick... It was about the dogs he fought. Some people, those "Dog Town" people, decided to give about thirty of them a second chance... They didn't just.... kill all the dogs, didn't... declare them too vicious and just "terminate" them without a second thought to the possibilities. They actually saved those dogs, those pitbulls that no one else wanted to deal with... They saved those dogs. Needless to say, I was touched (which is saying A LOT for me, because I am not the kind of person to be touched by a mere television commercial). I mean, I know that good people like that exist out there and that not everyone is "rawr evil raaaa", but.... usually, even the best animal cruelty agents will almost always authorize the termination of fighting dogs. Even though trainers all over the world have proven that dogs of that nature are capable of becoming brilliant and loving pets, no matter what has been done to them in the past, humans still just... toss them aside. Because it'd be "too hard" to save them. But not these people at Dog Town. They finally took that extra step and realized that if the innocent dogs die, then there can be no justice, no true victory. Anyway, inspired and what not, I decided to keep this particular design (it was only a matter of time before I felt the need to keep one anyway XD). His name is Domino and, unlike my five other pitbull characters, he is usually just a normal pitbull: not an anthro or a weird thing that wears clothes and has blades all over. X3 I might make him a "weredog", so he may have a semi-anthro form or maybe even a human one since I need more human characters, but he usually just looks like this. Your average battle-scarred pitbull who has not let fighting and cruel humans get in the way of his good nature. He personifies the idea of "forgiving and forgetting" and my be a filler character in my comic... quite possibly. I have a bit of muse for him so I'm hoping he will finally bring back my ability to draw... Hopefully, this will be the last of my "color old/other people's lineart because I can't draw" images. I will also likely be uncropping his ears. Not sure though, since he was a fighting dog and cropping was developed for that very purpose so... I dunno. Maybe I'll make a poll. Oh! Speaking of polls, I have a note I have to send Whivit. >.> Totally slipped my mind... Lineart (c) Character and Design (c) He is NOT up for adoption. |
