In direct response to =TheSilentSnow's most recent hyena designs (which seriously, have got to be some of the most awesome werehyena designs I have ever seen... correction: those are some of the ONLY werehyena adoptable designs I have ever seen. X3), I decided to make me a yena template myself. Because:

a) Werehyenas are a weird hybridization of two of my favorite animals- werewolves and hyenas.

b) There is an extremely odd lack of were-critter templates on Deviantart... which I find odd.

c) There is an extremely odd lack of ANY were-critters that AREN'T related to wolves. But of course, hyenas in particular.

d) ... and because I felt like it.

So... there it is. Enjoy.

And let's try not to make using this a fad, shall we? I've noticed that any time I post a new template, there's a crowd of people who just sort of slap some color under it pretty mindlessly.. turning it into some character that will never be used or whatever. I find that slightly disrespectful, specifically in terms of my dog templates which were drawn tirelessly so that they represent a particular breed. Though my Sage Koochee templates have been colored numerous times, NONE of the characters created from them are actually Sage Koochee.

So, I can't force you guys to do anything specific with this but let's be thoughtful about whatever it is we're going to do. If you're going to make a "spotted hyena" character, let's at least give it spots? And, as a word to the wise, try to avoid using rainbow colors and random markings. Hyenas have extremely interesting and rather varying markings. Just look up some photographs for ideas, instead of doing random shit. These are my favorite animals, Disney butchered them enough.

If you truly respect an animal/species, you should have some desire to represent it accurately... yes? Just to say.

Rules regarding use:
- May be used wherever you wish to, be it here on DA or on myspace or on an internet forum. Whatever.
- Credit MUST be given with each and every use (meaning you must credit me, Avyris, for the line art and provide a link as to where you got it from)
- That little JF(c) symbol, if present, must remain intact and visible AT ALL TIMES. That is my copyright and erasing it is like claiming the lineart is yours.
- If there is no JF(c) then don't worry about it. Sometimes I forget to put it in.
- Lineart may be edited to suit your needs. Chop off an ear, scratch out an eye, add clothing or scars or whatever. It all suits me just fine.
